President Muhammadu Buhari And His Deputy, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo Discloses Assets

Documents submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) showed that the president had less than N30 million in his account as at May 29 when he was sworn in as president.
As at the same date, his deputy, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), had N94 million, $900,000 as well £19,000 in his accounts.
The duo had promptly filled and submitted their assets declaration forms to the CCB before they were sworn in. But the details were not made known to the public.
Documents submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) showed that the president had less than N30 million in his account as at May 29 when he was sworn in as president.
The documents submitted to the CCB, which officials said were still being vetted and would soon be made public, showed that prior to being sworn in on May 29, Buhari had less than N30 million to his name.
He also had only one bank account with the Union Bank.
Buhari had no foreign account, no factory and no enterprises.  He also had no registered company and no oil well.
Osinbajo, who had been a successful lawyer before his foray into politics, declared a balance of about N94 million, US$900,000 and £19,000 in his bank accounts with the foreign currencies kept in local domiciliary accounts.
Buhari declared however that he had shares in Berger Paints, Union Bank and Skye Bank.
The documents also revealed that Buhari had a total of five homes, and two mud houses in Daura.  He had two homes in Kaduna, one each in Kano, Daura and Abuja.
One of the mud houses in Daura was inherited from his late older sister, another from his late father.  He borrowed money from the old Barclays Bank to build two of his homes.
Buhari also has two undeveloped plots of land, one in Kano and the other in Port Harcourt.
In addition to the homes in Daura, he has farms, an orchard and a ranch. The total number of his holdings in the farm include 270 heads of cattle, 25 sheep, five horses, a variety of birds and a number of economic trees.
The documents also showed that the president uses a number of cars, two of which he bought from his savings and the others supplied to him by the federal government in his capacity as a former Head of State.
The rest were donated to him by well-wishers after his sports utility van (SUV) was damaged in a Boko Haram bomb attack on his convoy in July 2014.
As revealed by the same forms, highlights of Osinbajo’s asset declaration include his four-bedroom residence at Victoria Garden City, Lagos and a three-bedroom flat at 2 Mosley Road, Ikoyi.
The vice-president also has a two-bedroom flat at the popular Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and a two-bedroom mortgaged property in Bedford, England.
Aside from these, the vice-president has no other landed property on the form.
Apart from his law firm, known as SimmonsCooper, the vice-president also declared shareholding in six private companies based in Lagos, including Octogenerium Ltd., Windsor Grant Ltd., Tarapolsa, Vistorion Ltd., Aviva Ltd., and MTN Nigeria.
His personal vehicles include one Infinity 4-Wheel Drive SUV, one Mercedes Benz and a Prado Jeep.

NCC Fines MTN, Glo, Others Over Pre-Registered SIMs

Four of Nigeria’s leading telecom operators have been sanctioned by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, for having pre-registered SIM cards in their systems.
The NCC identified the affected GSM network providers as MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, Globacom Nigeria and Etisalat Nigeria.
They were sanctioned and asked to variously pay N120.4 million for failing to fully comply with the directive of the Commission to deactivate pre-registered and defective customer SIM cards.
While MTN, which controls over 62 million subscribers on its network, was asked to Pay N102.2 million; Globacom was slammed with N7.4 million; Etisalat N7 million and Airtel N3.8 million.
NCC explained that in continuation of its monitoring activities it placed voice calls to 402 MTN subscribers from among the list of numbers submitted to the telecommunications for deactivation.
Similar exercises were carried out on other operators.
“The numbers called were those whose registrations were incomplete or invalid as regards facial capture and the responses from those affected MTN subscribers was that MTN has neither, through text messages, nor any other means invited them to come forward to validate and update their registration,” the NCC said.
The communications industry regulator noted that the monitoring exercise had revealed that the operators were still harbouring activated pre-registered and defective SIMs on their networks.

Emeka Ike Blames Unresolved Marital Crisis On Pastor Chris Okotie

Nollywood actor and producer, Emeka Ike has blamed Pastor Chris Okotie for contributing to his unresolved marital crisis, saying that the pastor through a lawyer was frustrating his efforts to resolve the crisis amicably.
"The lawyer Chris Okotie hired for my wife is also frustrating every attempt I make to resolve the matter peacefully,” Ike said in a statement.
He further revealed that “Pastor Chris Okotie just absolved my wife into his church without making any effort to get in touch with me. If as a pastor, your church member is having issue with her husband, and you failed to do anything to resolve it, what kind of pastor are you? When I called him, he refused to pick my call. He also failed to react to a text message I sent to him. Is that a man of God? Even, if you have a police case, they will make effort to hear from you before taking a position, not to talk of the church.”

Shocking: Pastor, Wife And Others Accused Of Child Trafficking In Abia

Abia State Police Command, on Tuesday, paraded a 71 year old man, said to be a retired pastor, for allegedly stealing a year old baby.
The suspect was arrested alongside his wife by the police, following an alarm said to have been raised by the mother of the baby.
Abia State Police Commissioner, Mr. Joshak Habila, who paraded the suspects, said the arrests were part of the achievements of his command for the month of August.
He said a month ago, a 21-year-old pregnant mother reported that she lost her 11 months old baby to a supposed friend under the pretence of offering help to her.
The police boss said luck, however, ran out on the supposed friend, when the anti- robbery squad of the command intercepted him at Owerrinta and arrested him for allegedly trafficking pregnant girls to Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
He said the arrest led to the discovery of a child, who was previously stolen in Aba and allegedly sold to the retired pastors’ wife, who was said to have kept the deal away from her husband.
According to Habila, the suspect sold the baby for N500,000 to the wife of a pastor who allegedly lied to her husband that she went through the normal process of adoption for the baby.
The wife of the pastor, the commissioner explained, admitted to have paid for the baby in the premises of Federal Medical Centre, FMC, in Umuahia, through her friend, one Maria Mba, said to a senior civil servant in Bende Local Government Area.
But her pastor husband denied knowledge of the illegal adoption of the baby, saying he had been requesting from his wife the adoption documents which he claimed he never saw till date.
The other suspects, Maria Mba and Ekwutosi, also explained their role in the transaction, with Ekwutosi saying he connected Maria to the illegal deal.
He claimed that Mba approached him and requested for baby girl which he arranged for and procured, after which he invited them to the FMC where the deal was finally sealed.
Though Mba said she collected the money and gave to Ekwutosi N400,000 and kept N100,000 as part of her share of the deal, Ekwutosi denied receiving the money from her.
