FG to charge ‘fake’ professor to court

The Federal Government, yesterday, said the man who claimed to be a professor, with a view to applying for establishment of a private university, would soon be charged to court.
Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, NUC, Professor Julius Okojie, revealed this while fielding questions from journalists in Abuja.
The NUC boss said the man, identified as Ambi P. N., who claimed to be a Professor of Statistics, would appear in court alongside two others also found to be bearing fake academic titles.
He added that investigations into the background of the key actors of the proposed Nigerian British University revealed that they were all fakes.
Okojie also said it was imperative for Federal Government to re-introduce post-graduate training programmes (fellowship) in tertiary institutions in the country.
He said: “What was even more revealing is that the three actors, the chief consultant who was supposed to be a professor, the proprietor who was supposed to be a doctorate degree holder from Divinity School and a lawyer, were all fakes.”
