Van Gaal labels Van Persie’s goal celebration ‘stupid’

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, has branded Robin van Persie’s celebrations ‘stupid’, after the striker scored a dramatic 93rd-minute equaliser.
The striker cracked in from six yards out, after Angel Di Maria’s late free-kick caused melee inside the box, to rescue a point for the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
Van Persie celebrated by throwing off his shirt into the air and was promptly shown a yellow card by referee Phil Dowd.
Van Gaal said in his post-match press conference that it was unnecessary.
He said: “He did a stupid reaction after the goal.
“You can be excited, but you don’t have to pull your shirt off, because then you have a yellow card. It’s not so smart.”
