Police Recovers 42 Cartridges, 9 Guns From Fleeing Suspected Robbers In Lagos


Officers attached to the Lagos State Police Command on Sunday recovered nine pump action guns and 42 live ammunition from two fleeing suspected robbers in Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos State.
Men of the Area E Command led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, APC Frank Mba recovered the weapons from the hoodlums.
The weapons were said to have been found in a bag abandoned by a fleeing motorcyclist and his passenger during a chase by a patrol team at Seventh Avenue in Festac.
Following the recovery of the weapons in the area, police patrols in the area is said to have been intensified.
An eyewitness disclosed that the incident happened at about 12midnight, adding that the police patrol team on sighting the unregistered motorcycle became suspicious as the passenger was carrying a sack and the team went after it.
“We moved forward in pursuit of the bike and as soon as they sighted us, they ran away, abandoning the motorcycle and the sack. We could not shoot because we did not know what was in the sack. But when the sack was searched, we found nine pump action guns and 42 live cartridges,” the eyewitness said.
