FG Declares Thursday Public Holiday

The federal government has declared Thursday, October 1 as   public holiday to mark the Nigeria’s 55th Independence celebration.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior Alhaji Abubakar Magaji, made this known  in a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press, Yusuf Isiaka, monday.

Magaji congratulated Nigerians home and abroad also thanked them for their supports to President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts towards builing a peaceful and united Nigeria.

He further urged them to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for peace and unity across the country.

Davido - I Am Not Considering Marrying Anybody Now

Nigerian music star, Davido, has disclosed that he is not ready to get married any time soon.

In a recent chat with the Punch, the 22-year-old pop star revealed that despite having a 4-months old daughter from his alleged lover, Sophie Momodu, he is not even thinking about tying the nuptial nuts.

When asked on whether he will be settling down soon with his baby mama, he said, “Not at all; I am not considering getting married now.”

Responding to further questions if he had plans of tying the knot with another lady, the Skelewu crooner said, “Marriage? Oh please, I am not planning on getting married now.”

Emir Of Kano Sanusi Marries 18-Year-Old Adamawa Princess As Fourth Wife

The Emir of Kano has married Sa’adatu Barkindo-Musdafa, the daughter of the Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo-Musdafa.

Sa’adatu, 18, is the emir’s fourth wife. She recently completed secondary school and is being enrolled for higher studies.

Premium Times reports that the wedding fatiha held inside the palace of the Lamido minutes after Jumma’at prayer.

According to the report, the influential emir only sent out invitation to some dignitaries across the country, adding that Kano government officials sneaked into Yola for the wedding fatiha to avoid journalists.

The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, was said to have acted as the guardian for the groom, while his Adamawa counterpart, Jibrilla Bindow, played the role of the bride’s guardian, who gave her hands out in marriage to the monarch.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi will be out for seven to eight weeks after tearing a ligament in his left knee during a 2-1 win over Las Palmas.
Messi, 28, was injured in the third minute of the match and was taken to hospital after being replaced.
He may miss eight fixtures, but could return in time to face Real Madrid on 22 November.
"I'm always sad when one of my players gets injured and even more when it's Messi," coach Luis Enrique said.
"We will not change our style of play without Messi, although there are many moments in games in which Messi liberates us and finds solutions for us, so we'll have to strengthen in other areas and the team will have to step up without him."
In Messi's absence, Luis Suarez scored twice as the champions beat Las Palmas to briefly return to the top of La Liga.

Man Catches neighbour having sex with his wife

There was pandemonium in the Ajegunle area of Lagos State on Saturday after a man identified as Udoh caught his wife having sex with a neighbour on their matrimonial bed.
It was learnt that Udoh’s wife identified as Gift, a mother of two and one Chukwuka, a next door neighbour were having sex when Udoh arrived and was hinted about what was happening by their neighbours.
Armed with this information, Udoh was alleged to have peeped through an opening in the window where he saw them in the act.
A neighbour who identified himself as Joseph Enang said immediately Udoh saw Chukwuka having sex with his wife, he shouted, “Abasi mbong” and rushed to the door where he screamed the name of his wife.
Udoh was said to have rushed into the room when Gift opened the door but Chukwuka allegedly escaped through the sitting room door.
Enang said, “When Udoh picked his cutlass and came out looking for both Gift and Chukwuka, they were nowhere to be found. Udoh bit his hand and swore that if any of them returns to the premises, blood would flow. He called his wife’s elder brother, telling him to order his sister, Gift back home or he would not see her alive. He narrated what happened to her brother.
“The neighbours were aware of the adulterous behaviour of the duo. Chukwuka is also married and blessed with one boy. His wife had quarreled with him over his relationship with Gift but he would not listen.
”He lied that there was nothing between them but just good neighborliness. People in the compound knew what was going on and later told the man secretly and that was why he told the wife he was going to an emergency party at Ikorodu and may not return on time. Unknown to the wife and his secret lover, he had set a trap for them,” Enang revealed.

Prophet TB Joshua Reportedly Purchases $60m Gulfstream G550 Private Jet

Founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations, Prophet TB Joshua, has joined the league of men of God with private jets.
SaharaReporters reports that Joshua acquired a nearly brand-new Gulfstream G550 aircraft in April 2015.
The acquisition came few months after a building collapse at the premises of his mega church in the Ikotun-Egbe suburb of Lagos, killing over 116 people.
Registered as “Synagogue Of Nations,” the jet was purchased using the Bank Of Utah trustee as the front for purchasing the jet.
According to the report, Pastor TB Joshua’s jet is the most expensive of the four owned by Nigerian pastors such as Pastor David Oyedepo (Bombardier Challenger 604), Pastor Enoch Adeboye (Gulfstream GIV), and Ayo Oritsejafor (Bombardier Challenger 601).
The jet, which has US registration number N131LK, was built in 2010. It was delivered to its first user in 2013 before making it to TB Joshua early this year.
It could cost up to $3 million to maintain the jet annually, depending on how heavily it is used.
Insiders claimed that the man of God had inform them that the jet was paid for by at least eight African Heads of State in 2014.

Police Recovers 42 Cartridges, 9 Guns From Fleeing Suspected Robbers In Lagos

Officers attached to the Lagos State Police Command on Sunday recovered nine pump action guns and 42 live ammunition from two fleeing suspected robbers in Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos State.
Men of the Area E Command led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, APC Frank Mba recovered the weapons from the hoodlums.
The weapons were said to have been found in a bag abandoned by a fleeing motorcyclist and his passenger during a chase by a patrol team at Seventh Avenue in Festac.
Following the recovery of the weapons in the area, police patrols in the area is said to have been intensified.
An eyewitness disclosed that the incident happened at about 12midnight, adding that the police patrol team on sighting the unregistered motorcycle became suspicious as the passenger was carrying a sack and the team went after it.
“We moved forward in pursuit of the bike and as soon as they sighted us, they ran away, abandoning the motorcycle and the sack. We could not shoot because we did not know what was in the sack. But when the sack was searched, we found nine pump action guns and 42 live cartridges,” the eyewitness said.

Scores Of Boko Haram Terrorists Surrender

Following sustained offensive by ground troops and pre-emptive air strikes by the Nigerian Air Force, scores of Boko Haram terrorists have continued to surrender to the Nigerian troops even as more have indicated willingness to lay down their arms.

Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has revealed that Liverpool forward Jordon Ibe, will not play for Nigeria.
Oliseh, who travelled to England to discuss with the youngster, says the teenager has chosen to play for the Three Lions of England.
“Jordon Ibe’s family informed me by a telephone call, that he was giving priority to an England call-up. We wish them well,” Oliseh tweeted.
This new development comes after England coach, Roy Hodgson, stated that he was keen on calling up Ibe.

I Left N287bn Abacha Loot In Treasury – Obasanjo Claims

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has claimed that he left in the national treasury over N287bn, made up of $2bn, £100m and N10bn in cash and property, being the loot recovered from the late dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha.
According to Obasanjo, the funds were paid into the treasury through the Central Bank of Nigeria before he handed over power to the late Umar Musa Yar’Auda on May 29, 2007.
Obasanjo’s disclosure was contained in the Vol. II of his memoir, My Watch and reviewed by Punch.
The Ota farmer further claimed that there was a time he got a report that £3m cash was seized from an agent of the late military dictator by customs officials at an airport in UK and that the British authorities asked the Nigerian government to prove ownership of the money.
“I went to London to have a meeting on another important issue with (former British Prime Minister) Tony Blair and I took the opportunity to raise the issue of the £3m, using the Yoruba anecdote of the thief who stole palm oil from the ceiling cupboard by getting somebody to help him so as not to spill the red palm oil on himself or the floor. The man who assisted became an accomplice. Tony got the message and the £3m was released to Nigeria the following day,” Obasanjo stated.

Woman Cuts Off Husband’s Friend’s Penis In His Attempt To rape her

One Mrs Okon Iniabasi An Akwa-Ibom State indigene, has reportedly cut off a man’s penis when he attempted to rape her.
The man, Linus Ibok, Punch reports, is her husband’s best friend.
Reports say Ibok had on Saturday, accompanied his friend, Iniabasi’s husband, a petty trader to board a vehicle to Aba, Abia State to purchase items for his shop in the village.
Afterwards, Ibok trailed Iniabasi to her farm where his manhood was cut off as he tried to have canal knowledge of her.
As the story goes, Iniabasi was said to have disclosed that she was not surprised when she saw Ibok in her farmland, as she thought he wanted to help her since he was almost like a member of their family but the shock came when Ibok confessed his undying love for her.
She reportedly rebuked him and asked him to leave the farm or she would report him to her husband. It was at that point Ibok grabbed her and attempted to rape her. Meanwhile, she allegedly let him undress and on noticing that, she used her machete to cut off his manhood.
After that, she ran to the village to inform others, who rushed to the farm to meet Ibok in the pool of his own blood with his manhood cut off.

Immediate past Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babatunde Fashola, SAN on Saturday drew attention of members of the public to the antics of hackers, who compromised his twitter account @tundefashola and posted four tweets in a language that resembled Japanese.
However, a statement signed by his former Special Adviser on Media, Mr Hakeem Bello on Saturday, revealed that the twitter account must have been compromised on Friday, as members of the public, who follow the former Governor, started calling to draw attention to the strange tweets in the early hours of Saturday.
It would be recalled that Governor Fashola also recently dissociated himself from a facebook scam, whereby some unscrupulous persons use his photographs and ascribe fictitious statements to him on fake Facebook accounts aimed at defrauding innocent people.

Woman Arraigned For Poisoning Cousin’s Fufu

The accused Alimot, was yesterday remanded in prison custody by a Lagos State Magistrates Court in Ogudu, for allegedly poisoning her cousin’s cassava flour also known as fufu.
The Magistrate in charge of the case said Alimont should be remanded in prison pending when she would be sentenced.
Alimot was arraigned on a two-count charge of maliciously administering poison with intent to harm and inflicting wounds.
When the charges were read, the suspect pleaded guilty.
The accused in her defence said her action was retaliatory because her cousin, Mrs Dorcas Kamoru destroyed the foodstuff she was supposed to use in preparing her family’s dinner.

They Have Started Again - Suspected Militants Killed During Gun Battle With JTF In Delta

At least, three persons were killed while others sustained different levels of injuries in a gun battle that ensued between the Joint Task Force (JTF) and suspected militants in Delta state.
The gun battle occurred at Benigboye Community of Burutu Local Government Area of the state on September 5 and earlier this week.
The Commander of the JTF, disclosed this during a press briefing on Thursday in Warri.
The commander further divulged that during the operation, a medium machine gun, AK 47, light machine gun and AK 47 automatic rifle, were recovered from the suspected militants.

“Among other weapons recovered by the troop were G3 riffles, one single barrel gun, Improvised Explosive Device and an identity card,” the Commander added.

Manchester City’s Iheanacho Wants More Playing Time

Kelechi Iheanacho has said he wishes for more English Premier League action as he looks forward to be part of action for Manchester City this weekend at Crystal Palace.
Having made his senior debut for City against Watford ahead of the international break, Iheanacho has said he’s definitely hungry for more senior match minutes in the future having now tasted life in the Premier League. “It’s been going great, I have been training with the first-team and the guys have been great with me and I`m really enjoying it,” Iheanacho told his club’s official website. “It was a great feeling to make my debut against Watford.

UNICAL Prof Suspended Over Alleged Rape Of Student

The Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Prof. Cyril Ndifon, accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old 400-level student in his office was yesterday suspended by the panel instituted by the school’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Ivara Esu.
Professor Ndifon, who is the first professor of Law from Cross River State, was briefly arrested and detained by the police and later released on Wednesday before he was suspended yesterday evening by the panel set up to investigate him.
The professor was accused by mother of the victim, Mrs. Irene Akpan, in a letter sent to the university, alleging that the incident happened between 3 and 5pm on August 29 at the dean’s private office on the top floor of the faculty building.
According to the lady, Professor Ndifon forcibly had sex with her daughter after a fierce struggle. The school authorities confirmed receipt of complaints from the victim, while the police also affirmed it but was quick to add that the matter was undergoing thorough investigation.
Narrating her daughter’s ordeal, Mrs Akpan explained that the dean had set a one-hour test for the students on that Saturday, assigning two lecturers to carry out the supervision.
She alleged that 20 minutes to the end of allotted time, Ndifon entered the hall and ordered the students to stop writing.
She said while the students were preparing to submit their answer sheets, Ndifon approached her daughter, tore her answer sheet and left the shreds on the seat.
Mrs. Akpan said: “He walked straight to my daughter’s desk, collected the script and tore it. He left the torn script on her seat, so the girl collected the pieces and put them in her bag. According to her, you will still have to pass through the faculty before leaving the building.
“She said as they were leaving, the dean accosted her again and asked if she still had the shredded script, she said yes. He instructed her to follow him to the general dean’s office to recopy the answers on another plain sheet, which she did.”
“The unsuspecting girl followed him to the general office where two people were, including the dean’s secretary. The office of the dean is on the first floor of the building, according to my daughter.
“She said while writing in that office, the dean who had earlier gone out, came in again and instructed her to follow him to his private office on the second floor so that she could comfortably use the table.”
The victim’s mother said five minutes after getting to his private office, the dean locked the door, concealed the key and started making advances, adding that they struggled but Ndifon subdued her and had sex with the girl.
She said her daughter was later taken to Airport Police Station, along IBB Way in Calabar, where she gave statement and also had medical examinations at the police clinic.
The Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Effiong Eyo, said the institution was seriously looking into the matter.
“A panel has been set up to look into the matter. The authorities are looking seriously into it,” Eyo said.
Also, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Hogan Bassey, said the command was investigating the case.
He said: “The case of rape or sexual assault requires discreet investigation and we have to handle it with care.”

You know me, whenever i see something interesting, especially when i know you could benefit from it, i share it with you guys.

1. When you wake up in the morning, take a few minutes to check-in (go within). Take a few deep breaths and find something that you're grateful for (your children, partner, your health, the warm bed you are in, nature outside your window). Take this time to be thankful for all that you have in your life instead of wasting your energy on thinking about what you don't have.

2. Instead of pouncing straight out of bed, spend 5 to 10 minutes (or however long it takes) meditating. Simply observe your breath. Breathe in for a count of 4 to 5, allowing your belly and chest to expand, and breathe out also for a count of 4 to 5 allowing everything to drop away. Notice how your breath enters your body, notice how your breath leaves your body, and notice the little pause between each breath. This will allow you to create a sense of peace within and it will also help get you into a good head space before your feet touch the ground.

3. Take a few moments while in the shower and/or while eating breakfast just to be present. Feel the water on your skin, taste the different flavours in your food. It feels good and it's an amazing way to consciously set your energy and intention towards your day.

4. Before breakfast have large glass of water with half a lemon squeezed into it and you may even like to add some ginger or cayenne pepper. This will assist with digestion and is effective in body cleansing and detoxification- it will help get things moving. Follow this with a nutritious breakfast to kick-start your metabolism and fuel your body to face the day ahead. You have just had maybe ten to twelve hours of fasting - your body needs sustenance and is ready to be refuelled, so skipping breakfast is a big no, no!

5. Get clear about your intentions for the day. For example you can intend to have a productive day. You can intend to have quality time with your family and friends with no distractions. You can intend to have a fun and brilliant day. You can intend to have a calm and peaceful day. You can intend to learn something new or be helpful to someone.
