Following an early morning downpour on Monday morning, a four-storey
building belonging to ‘Behold He Cometh Pentecostal Church’ situated at
Umuagu-Umuahia, Abia State has collapsed.

Eyewitness
account says the building which was at its final stage of completion
before the tragedy collapsed around 10am after heavy rainfall that
lasted for hours.
An elder in the church, Mr. Awom Samuel, while
speaking with pressmen after the incident disclosed that the contractors
in charge of the building were alerted earlier, after having noticed
that there were cracks on the wall of the building.
Wondering
why the building collapsed after so much money was expended to put it
up, he stressed that the contractor has several questions to answer.
In
response to the development, the Umuahia Capital Development Authority,
said it had commenced investigations into the incident.
Another
source who pleaded not to be named said the use of substandard
materials led to the disaster, assuring that the entire truth would be
uncovered after proper investigations.
