Yoga guru BKS Iyenger dies at 96


The world famous celebrity yoga guru, BKS Iyenger passed away today due to renal failure. According to some social media reports he passed away at 3:15 am, his image was also changed to indicate his demise.
On August 12, 2014 he was admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in Pune when he complained of difficulty in breathing. His condition worsened on Tuesday and doctors had to insert a nasogastric tube to provide him with liquid sustenance.
Iyenger, 96 years, was put on dialysis due to renal insufficiency, on Sunday. According to The Hindu, the doctors found the yoga guru’s heart weak and abnormal functioning of the kidneys. However, his advancing age was adding to the complications. BKS Iyenger, known to be a sick throughout his teens, has suffered from couple of heart strokes in the past.
Author of several books, BKS Iyenger has been honored with Padma Vibhushan on January 26, 2014. Iyenger’s final rites will be performed on Wednesday in Pune.
